Evergreen School District Superintendent Dr. Emy Flores announced she will be recommending to the Board of Trustees for closure/consolidation at the end of the 2019-20 school year of Laurelwood and Dove Hill Elementary Schools.

Mark your calendar! The online auction for these items will take place Monday, February 3 through Sunday, February 9, 2020. Bid online on a selection of teacher and staff pastime events, as well as Teacher, Librarian, Principal For A Day, and Promotion Ceremony privileges! Proceeds benefit your student's classroom, the school and the PTO general fund.

January's Project Cornerstone book is "Today I Feel Silly & Other Moods that Make My Day", by Jamie Lee Curtis. This story covers emotional literacy and recognizing one's feelings. Cornerstone classrooms will discuss noticing and identifying different emotions they have, and recognizing how others might be feeling as one of the first steps toward developing empathy.

Our first year of participation in the National Geographic GeoBee is a wrap! 26 students, grades 4th-6th, competed by answering questions covering geography, civilizations, cultures, physical features, and more. In the end, Sudhir V. reigned supreme and finished in first place! Congratulations also to our second place finisher, Supriya B., and third place finisher, Arjun R!

The Growth and Development curriculum will be presented to 5th and 6th grade students in Evergreen School District this spring. Parents are invited to a preview of these videos on Monday, January 27. The 5th grade program overview is from 5:30 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. The 6th grade program overview is from 7:15 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The presentations will be held at Carolyn Clark Elementary School in the multipurpose room. The school is located at 3701 Rue Mirassou. Children are not allowed at the parent previews.
